
Finding ways to incorporate a luxury feel into your bath renovation is driven by homeowners desire to use their bathroom as a place to rest and relax, according to the latest survey conducted by Houzz, which in turn places a focus on the shower and the soaking tub. These renovators (55%) say that soaking in the tub helps them relax while 54% enjoy long showers.

Shower Upgrades Shown to increase the remodel threefold with a median spend of $14,000 compared to a standard median spend of $4,500 for bath renovations.

Accent Walls have also become a popular trend by providing a wow factor, statement maker or simply to bring distinction to reflect the style and personality of the homeowner. Surface material is the top choice for making the accent wall distinct (51%), followed by color (45%), pattern (41%) and texture (28%). To no surprise, white remains the dominant choice for bathroom color although more renovators are diversifying with a blue accent wall or a multicolored accent wall.

Lighting Features Four in five renovating homeowners replace the lighting in their master bathroom, driven by insufficient lighting or no natural light. Popular upgrades include dimmable lighting (which also aids in the ability to relax), mood lighting to their shower and installing bathroom mirrors with LED lights.

High Tech Almost half of all new faucets and one in three toilets include high-tech features in 2020, according to Houzz. Luxury bath renovations tend to go one step further by upgrading their toilet seats with a bidet, self-cleaning system, a seat with a heating element and overflow protection.
Bath Style Nearly nine in 10 bathroom renovators change their master bathroom style (89%) driven by getting rid of an outdated look. Popular styles are almost tied at the top with Modern etching out Transitional/Contemporary, followed by traditional.
As you can see with the Bath of the Year 2021 winners, the styles hold true to the trends as ethereal elegance, refined rustic, old-world serenity, modern artistry to elevated approach continues to stand tall in bath design. All sophisticated in their unique yet popular category of style.
