Bathroom remodeling projects topped the list for home remodeling projects for the fifth time since 2010 according to NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) with kitchens following close behind. As for the design of choice for these new bathrooms, homeowners have established their desire for clean, modern styles finished in neutral colors based on a recent survey conducted by NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association).

Transitional style bathrooms have taken the lead over contemporary, neutral color schemes (white, warm whites and grays) are the most popular. Specifically, top trends overall include the following:

Universal Design Features that keep aging gracefully in mind and everyone else at some point in their lives. These bathrooms are accessible and barrier-free.

Open Shelving, Floating Vanities and Wall-Hung Toilets provide additional transitional aesthetics, ease of use and maintenance.

Built-in Storage supports the function and efficiency of the bathroom. Under-mount Sinks, Freestanding Tubs, and Shower Amenities like hand showers, steam showers and lighting also made the most popular bathroom trends.

Polished Chrome Faucet finish lends itself to the transitional bathroom style.
Other popular bathroom amenities include electric radiant floor heating, one-piece toilets, electric towel-warmer, humidity-sensing fans, smart toilet seats with integrated bidet features and WaterSense listed toilets and faucets.
Bathroom trends are definitely moving in the right direction. Keep this list handy for your next remodel!
