Top Kitchen Appliance Color Trends 2015-2016

When Pantone announced its Color of the Year 2015 it opened up a wave of color offerings from fashion to kitchen appliances. Marsala, Pantone (18-1438) became a designers best friend while being described as a “naturally robust and earthy red wine” that “enriches our minds, bodies and soul.”

Although kitchen appliance color options have existed for a long time they are making a comeback as a trend in the high-end, commercial grade appliances. Stainless steel finishes will continue to dominate because of their broad appeal and classic style. According to Consumer Reports, “Luxury appliances are as much about style and name recognition as they are about performance.”

As kitchen design trends continue to embrace the personality and style of its owner an increase in color and finish options make sense. We live in a society that loves to express it personality so why not express it in the kitchen? Or (we might ask), are we that daring?

High-end, colorful commercial grade appliances are becoming the mainstream choice for kitchen designers and their clients. Even mid-range appliance lines offer their version of professional looking appliances. A few favorites will be highlighted in this post based on a recent survey by Consumer Reports. Findings were based on performance, style, energy efficiency and features. These models “live up to their reputation.”

Stainless steel maintains its lead in kitchen appliance offerings. Although you will find finish options offered by manufacturers in different color I don’t believe we will see a major movement in that direction. It appears to me that we add color, personality and style in others ways to our kitchens!
