Home renovation continues at historic levels, according to Houzz, and kitchens remain on the front line. Homeowners who are finally able to act on long-planned renovations are driving this trend as many have decided to invest in forever homes rather than moving as they adapt their interior spaces to meet changing needs. These kitchen renovations are also driving popular must-have customizations that are becoming common-place in the kitchen space.

Specifically, time and money are key drivers that initiate the renovation process. A recent home purchase, damage due to home age and life events (such as health or accessibility needs), increased remote work and/or income and employment changes, followed by a child moving out are key motivators towards taking the renovation plunge. Nearly two-thirds of homeowners (61%) surveyed are planning to stay in their homes for 11 years or more and 44% describing their residence as a forever home.
