Inspired by this 100+ year-old home, Interior Designer, Phillip Thomas began with the walls by repainting the ceilings in satin finishes that reflect natural light; hand-applied decorative glazes to give the walls depth with an overall palette of blues, celadons, pinks and periwinkles.
Charged with “work with what we had architecturally,” directive, his creative process offered space for allowing his clients to go on a discovery journey that ultimately fine-tuned his approach and design direction.
What we would consider restraints, the designer found the direction he needed in this decorating project. In his own words, “I wanted it to feel like an amalgamation of pieces collected throughout the clients’ lives.” And, thus he achieved.
Each space is filled with layers of design elements, and once discovered you must pause and study its placement and affect on the overall design statement.
